The Sonora PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a non-profit organization formed for the sole purpose of raising funds to support equitable learning experiences at our school. PTA is guided by dedicated parent volunteers and a supportive school staff. Throughout the year, PTA holds fundraisers and meetings to support many activities and enrichment programs. We invite you to become a member of the PTA and get involved in any way you can!
Literacy was a focus area and the PTA supported literacy initiatives at Sonora through hosting a Book Fair, donating books to classrooms and the school library, and offsetting the cost of the student reward lunches, end of the year AR limo ride for our top readers, popcorn prizes, and other prize incentives for all the books that our children read this year.
PTA funds helped further supplement music and arts programming at Sonora. The Sonora PTA funded the Arts Masters program throughout the school year which provided enhanced arts curriculm in the classrooms.
Field Trips and enrichment acitivies are important to the student experience! Sonora PTA Funds are used annually to offset the costs of transportation to ensure teachers can take their students on field trips throughout the year.
Sonora's talented students put on a truly spectacular annual school musical and the Sonora PTA is proud to support our talented students annually by helping to offset some of the costs associated with the theatre rental, licensing, costumes, and creative directors.
The Sonora PTA organizes our annual Jog-A-Thon, which is our biggest fundraiser of the year! This fundraising event helps to fund our programs and events at the school! This year we raised over $20,000 for our school which will help offset enrichment programming costs, support events, and much more!
The Sonora PTA helps bring the wonderful school community of students and their families together through supporting and organizing family school events throughout the year. The Sonora PTA hosted the Annual Trunk or Treat Festival, Annual Tamale Fundraiser, Sock Hop Valentines Day Dance, Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, Family Game Nights, and End of the Year Movie Night (Mario Bros). The PTA organizes Staff & Teacher Appreciation week to thank and support the amazing school staff at our school! PTA funds are used to help offet school yearbook costs.
Sonora PTA funds helped supplment school activites such as inviting Santa Claus to visit Sonora, supporting Pilot Cup and purchasing new soccer nets, and hosting a BMX Bike assembly.
