About Your PTA

Literacy continues to be a priority at Sonora. PTA supports reading initiatives by hosting our annual Book Fair and donating books to classrooms and the school library. These efforts help put high-quality books directly into students’ hands and support a lifelong love of reading.

Creativity is an important part of a well-rounded education at Sonora. PTA support helps enhance arts experiences that build confidence, encourage self-expression, and bring learning to life inside the classroom. PTA funds help support arts-based programming and student performances throughout the year. Whether students are participating in classroom art lessons, preparing for performances, or showcasing their talents on stage, these experiences help develop skills that extend far beyond elementary school. We are proud to help ensure that creative opportunities remain a meaningful part of the Sonora experience.

Field trips are a vital part of the elementary school experience. PTA funds are used each year to offset transportation costs so teachers can take students on enriching, hands-on learning experiences without placing the full burden on families.

Sonora’s annual school musical showcases the incredible talent and dedication of our students. PTA helps offset costs associated with theatre rental, licensing, costumes, and creative direction so this tradition remains accessible and high-quality year after year.

Our annual Jog-A-Thon is our largest fundraiser and one of the most exciting days on campus. Last year, we raised over $30,000 to directly support enrichment programs, events, and classroom needs. Every lap truly makes a difference for our Eagles.

Building community matters. PTA organizes and supports events that bring families together, including Trunk-or-Treat, our Tamale Fundraiser, Spring Dance, Cinco de Mayo Festival, Family Game Nights, and End-of-Year Movie Night. We also coordinate Staff & Teacher Appreciation Week and help offset yearbook costs so more students can participate in these special memories.

At Sonora, learning extends well beyond the classroom. PTA partners with school administrators and staff to support programs and experiences that enrich our students’ academic growth and strengthen our school community. PTA funds help bring special assemblies, enrichment opportunities, and campus-wide events to life, creating meaningful experiences our Eagles look forward to throughout the year. By helping offset costs when possible, we work to keep these opportunities accessible and inclusive for all families.
